Sea Survival course

The course

We do our best to make this course fun, but it does have a serious aspect to it.  Statistics prove that, should the worst happen, people who have done this course survive more than those who don’t do it. Launching and using the liferaft in a pool is an essential part of this course.
  • A great experience in warm water.
  • Learn the different ways to summon help.
  • An instructor with extensive knowledge and a desire to impart it to you.

An important part of the course is a practical session in a swimming pool. Experience first-hand the problems of entering a liferaft and assisting others, while fully kitted out in wet weather gear and a lifejacket.

Course topics include: liferafts and the equipment they contain; survival techniques; the design of lifejackets; medical aspects of sea survival; search and rescue techniques.

You will need to bring a change of clothes and perhaps some waterproofs that you would normally use while sailing, a towel and a pen and paper. Tea and coffee facilities are available but it is advisable to bring a packed lunch as only light refreshments are available on site.

If you wish, the venue has wet weather gear available to hire but we need to book this in advance. The cost is £10 per person.
